07/06/2010

Over the weekend there were 5 Broadbodied chasers skimming over the pond(3 males and 2 females). One of the females was ovipisiting on the pond which is great news. Also there were 2 Green veined whites near the pond, this is a first for the farm. Along the brook edge there was 1 set of deer prints in the muddy banking, it had crossed from one side to the other.Ragged robin has flowered in one of the grass mixes which is great and near to it was the Germander speedwell in full bloom. Near the brook edge was also a new flower for the farm, Pignut with it's white flower and lovely delicate leaves. The Small copper was seen in a grass strip along with 2 Small skippers. The Marsh orchid is also out in flower (9 intotal).
